03 Jan Goodbye 2015 – Hello 2016

Now that we have started a new year academic year at Shambhala, we wanted to do a quick review of everything that has happened since the beginning of 2015. There have been moments of happiness and sometimes tension, amazing moments and occasionally ones that we want to forget. But looking back all in all we are so fortunate, working as a team and fighting for what we are passionate about and what believe in, we have managed to get where we are and continue to grow step by step. It is nothing short of an inspiring and miraculous journey. Our youths are those who have helped the project move ahead because we see their commitment and passion for a better life and we are crystal clear what our goals are..

Miguel has finished his ESO and is now officially a graduate and now has been registered for access to higher education and will shortly begin the course on nutrition. Pedro, after completing a degree in psychology, has been able to enroll in a master to choose a specialty. Christian after completing the course on nutrition and personal trainer is working and when he can pops into the gym to help motivate our youths in the boxing classes. Eli has completed 3r ESO and this year will be the last year in college. Yeira, obtained the degree of german that she needed and is now doing her practices in a center for older people in Germany. Elisabeth wanting to do a nursing course has passed the exam for the entrance test. Cristina was working and now will be able to register for the free examination of high school. In addition 4 guys from “Es Pinaret” have participated in our project.

We are delighted with all our young people, with the commitment and effort that they put on a daily basis. Although there are some who are no longer with us, more youths are coming to us every week, seeing a light that wasn’t there before and a way to fulfill their dreams.

Also we have to thank all the people who have been supporting Shambhala, both from its beginnings new help that has taken interest in us this year. Companies and people who strongly believe in the project and in our passion and effort. This year, the big change was that we could use the facilities of Cooperativa Jovent, thanks to their invaluable understanding and collaboration, our youths were able to have a proper place to study with all the materials needed to help them with their educational needs. Also, we want to thank Artesport, because they continue to support us with their outstanding gym and martial arts classes.

In order to raise funds, we launched a campaign Euro4Education; it is carried out in different restaurants in the island. And from here we would like to thank the support received in our testing phase and look forward for more restaurants joining us. We have also done small events and the May 17 we had charity day in Palma Arena thanks to an amazing woman called Ascen who worked tirelessly to make this event happen.

We would like to thank Lion’s Club, Global Balear, Juan Vives, La Caixa Portals Nous, Bankia, Caixa Colonya, for the amazing grant. And also to Ultima Hora, Canal 4 and Daily Bulletin for the interest in our project. Little by little we are creating a large family, which struggles against adversity, and getting stronger…. Every day. Thank you to all.
