16 Jan Happy new year 2017!
In mid-October we had a great addition to Shambhala Team, Victor became the sixth member not only to help on our fund raising initiatives but also due to his experience working in a further education college, as career advisor to our youths. Many of our youths come with clear visions and dreams of their futures but others are unsure and Victor is able to offer a wealth of experience working closely with Teemu our amazing psychologist to find a good career map to every youth who comes through our door for help.
At the beginning of November we had the opportunity to present our project to Ferrer Hotels and at the beginning of the year we will sign a collaboration agreement with them. Thanks to this agreement, we will have motivational talks by its employees and the opportunity to integrate the Shambhala youth in their sports club and job opportunities. This is a truly wonderful collaboration for us and we are so grateful to Ferrer Hotels for sharing our vision. In addition, Ferrer Hotels will be the official sponsors this year to Powerman 2017, which will be held February 25. Shambhala will be present as a foundation beneficiary and supporting the event with our volunteers and selling raffle tickets and merchandise to support our fund raising initiatives.
With regards our Warrior’s academic achievements we are so proud as yet another one has finished their ESO basic qualifications and now proceeds to further education studying a course of technical therapeutic massage in January. Another of our students passed all her test for the first quarter of high school and all those studying ESO, have passed all their mid term exams and we are very proud of them.
After the great success of our fund raising washing cars (Shambhala Wash) down in Puerto Portals last year, we are looking at growing this as a permanent fund raising initiative and are busy developing the idea with the plan to launch this in June. Also we are so grateful for all those establishments who ran our Euro4Education campaign which this year raised invaluable funds to allow us to take on extra youths.
It is not always easy on an island that is small where there are so many charities asking for help, to raise the funds and we are so grateful to our patrons and the businesses that support us. Thank you. This year we hope to continue on the road we are travelling, to take on more youths, growing our fund raising so that the goal of opening up our own Shambhala Youth Centre can be realized.
The team and the Warrior of Shambhala
